CWSF 2009 Results
After winning at the Renfrew County Regional Science & Technology Fair in April, four of the participants in out regional fair participated in the Canada Wide Science Fair in Winnipeg, Manitoba, in May, some coming home with awards.
Renfrew County added four more awards to its credit at the recent Canada Wide Science Fair held in Winnipeg. Roopa Suppiah won Silver in Senior Automotive and a Gold in Senior Earth & Environmental Sciences. Rebecca Sandrelli won a Bronze in Intermediate Environmental Innovation as well as a Gold in Intermediate Life Sciences.
Roopa is a student at Mackenzie High School in Deep River. Her project was entitled "Closing in on Fuel Cells." Rebecca is a student at Bishop Smith Catholic High School. Her project was entitled, "Bugs on Drugs II"
Rachel Lockley and Alyssa Borutski also represented Renfrew County at the national event. Rachel is a student at General Lake and her project was entitled "Emissivity." Alyssa is a student at Madawaska V.D.H.S. Her project was called "Listeria Indicator Development Project."
Team Canada MILSET 2009
Also, Alyssa and Roopa were selected to be part of Team Canada MILSET 2009 to attend the 12th Expo-Sciences Internationale (ESI 2009) in Tunis, Tunisia from July 23 to 29th.
